And Today.

March 22, 2007

And today, I’ve realize I’ve hit a point in my life where I don’t really want to be.

I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, and it’s nothing I’m all too happy about.  I’ve been watching it happen over the last year or so.  Yet, I did nothing to really curb the changes.  There was no major change in diet nor commitment to eat healthier.  Unfortunately, now, some things need to be changed.

First, I’m going to start running again.  I cannot afford the gym, so running plus sit-ups plus push-hups will just have to suffice.  I could always use the Rutgers gym, but yeah, I’m afraid to ask for help on what I’m supposed to be doing a gym.  Maybe one day I’ll man up to it.

I have my iPod nano and Nike+ kit to help me with running.  I feel this will keep me running.  Afterall, it’s technology, which I love, plus music, which will ultimately motivate me. If you don’t know what Nike+ is, then I suggest you do some googling asap.

I plan to run on the following days each week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday.  Sunday will be the occasional on/off day.  These days are good since I’m typically home by 5pm and can run while it’s still light out.  Saturday, however, I can run in the late morning before work.  Thursday and Friday are scratched since I have school all day plus work at night.

Every day of the week, however, I hope to accomplish sit-ups and push-ups.  I suppose week one will be 3 sets of 10 for each.  I’ll increment the sets when needed.  Both these methods I can do whenever and wherever, so there is no reason why I should slack on sit-ups and push-ups.

Along with running, I’m giving up all forms soda and or sugar-related drinks.  When I cut soda from my diet a few years ago, I shed a few pounds here and there — it really helped.  Lately, I’ve been craving it more and more.  The addiction, I’m sure, will be hard to break, but I’m confident I can pull through.  The hardest time will be at restuarant.  I often look for soda at the restuarant as almost an instant boost.  But, again, I’m confident I can give it up 100%.

No more fast food.  I don’t eat the typical fast-food often, but I do eat related fast-foots quite often because of my crazy schedule.  I will make an effort to eat healthier.  If I cannot eat healthier foods because of my schedule, then I will force myself to have smaller portions.

I will stop picking at foods at the restuarant.  That place is a haven for free, and not so healthy, food.  If I can stop eating the food being thrown at me, I believe I can lose some weight rather quickly.  I just have to make sure to say no and to stick to my guns.  Matt, if you’re reading, I’m sorry — I can eat all those delicious treats with you every Saturday and Sunday.

Maybe soon enough I’ll be able to afford a gym membership.  I know going to the gym with Rebecca will be a huge motivation, so let us mark a gym membership as a short-term goal.

Long-term goal?  Drop to at least 170lbs, eat healthier, and be more active.
