Rebecca and I went into the city on Friday night to see Rain, a tribute to the Beatles. It was incredibly good and if you have the opportunity to see it, you must. Everyone played their parts quite well — lookwise and vocally. It was all quite impressive. I’m passionate about music (obviously) and Beatles’ tunes are always sending those chills down my body. It must have been an incredible time to live when the Beatles were all over the place.

There was some justice in Brooklyn.

After a few hours and a few moments digging around the interwebs, there was some justice in Brooklyn.

So they drove me a few blocks away from the restaurant, and as I walked up there, I texted Maura, and she called the dude. And then a few minutes later he he rode up on a yellow bike, this big, tattoo-covered, dreadlocked dude who I so would not have wanted to face alone. I looked at the bike, and he had attempted to fix one of the things that was broken, but the other part, which I had carefully described to the police officers, was still unfixed, which was the first thing he pointed out to me, as if he were being an honest salesman. I almost started laughing. It was definitely my bike!

And then the cops all converged on the guy, and they said, “Can we talk to you over here?” to him which sounds very nice but I assure you was not really said as a question. And then he was over against the Peter Luger’s wall with all the cops and I was alone with my bike. And then they were asking him all these questions, and he was like, “I do not steal bikes, I buy them from this guy,” and then within a minute they had extracted that he was a junkie, that he bought these bikes from another junkie, and even how much junk he consumed a day. Detective work in action! They cuffed him and put him in the squad car.

Improvements are coming to SongMeanings.

Been doing a lot of development on SongMeanings lately; more so than usual. We have some cool features in the works to really drive SongMeanings more socially, but not re-invent the social-networking-wheel. I’m excited. I won’t discuss those features just yet, but when it’s time, you’ll see some screenshots here and there prior to launch.

We’ve recently partnered with SeatGeek to provide SongMeanings with concert tickets. SeatGeek focuses on forecasting ticket prices on sporting events and concerts. While you’ll have to go to SeatGeek to see forecasting, you’ll at least be able to see tickets available through SongMeanings. So, the way we initially plan on rolling this out is to list all available tour dates for a specific artist — as well as a master concert list. If you find a date you’re interested in, click the buy button and, well, buy the tickets. We’ll also be able to show you upcoming events in your area based on your zip code and or IP location. Pretty sweet.

Aside from the social and SeatGeek features I’ve been developing, I’ve also been working on the back-end to clean up content. It should make for a better user-experience, fo sho.

Stay tuned.

What percentage of your shots do I consider good? I'd say 1 every 10 shots or so.

I don’t consider myself a very good photographer. Sure, I do enjoy it, but I feel I could better learn my camera and general photography principles. But much to my surprise, time and time again, I’m told that I do take very good pictures. Yeah, whatever, but it’s still nice to hear when people love my pictures. Going one further, I’m often asked how I manage to get those types of shots? You know, the ones that really grab your attention.

Those types of pictures MAYBE come about once every 10 shots or so. One aspect of photography that I really run with is to take several snaps of the same subject — one shot is bound to be one of those pictures. And if not, well, maybe I’ll snap another 10 shots of the same subject again. I’ve been trying to pass on this mentality — that you’re never going to get that great shot by taking one single snap of a subject or scene. Sure, you may come close, but I gaurantee if you snap away on the same subject, one of those additional snaps will display better than the original shot.

During our honeymoon, I took over 3000 pictures. To be honest, I only think ~100 or so of those shots can be considered ‘good’. So we’re looking at 3%. Yes, 3%.
