What an eventful week I’ve had. Monday night, I had a hockey game at Goodsports. Normal weekly thing, nothing special. I scored early in the first period on a break away, and then hell happened.
I was on another fast break on the left side of the net when I got pushed from behind. Before I knew it, I was at the boards. I had no time to stop, so I let the boards take my impact. Sure enough, I hit them extremely hard and fell to the floor. I knew instantly that my leg was done for.
Half assed Aberdeen EMTs showed up, and did nothing but scare the shit out of me. They kept telling me that the device they will use on me will cause me much pain. I will be “screaming bloody murder” when they straighten out my leg. Sure enough, the truck they came in, didn’t have the contraption. They called for another truck, and that one didn’t have it either. And finally another call to another truck, and of course, they didn’t have it either.
They half-assed taped/wrapped my legs together, and put my ass on it’s way to Bayshore Hospital. They immediately put me on some morphine since I couldn’t even feel my right leg. They proceeded to take x-rays of my right leg, and that’s when I asked politely, will I ever walk again? The doctor laughed and said, I’ll be running in 6 months. It was a nice to hear that. I was extremely nervous, and scared. I had no idea what to expect.
Tuesday morning, I had surgery. They put a metal rod next to my femur for support, and sewed me back up. So from Tuesday afternoon til about an hour ago, I was at Bayshore hospital.
I’m finally home, thank lord. I’ll be moving around in crutches for the next 6 weeks or so, and then I should be able to drive. Sigh.
Worst week ever. No cast though, and suprisingly, I’m not in a lot of pain.
